On 30th April, 2023, the Congress party organized a public event at the Malaprabhara ground in Khanapur, where party leader Priyanka Gandhi addressed the public on various issues related to Anganwadi, Asha, and mid-day meal workers. Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar, a prominent Congress leader, welcomed Priyanka Gandhi and presented her with a Buddha statue made by a local artist, Mr. Pundalik Kumbhar.

The event was attended by many prominent leaders, including Satish Jarkiholi ji, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Member of Parliament, Vinayak Navalgatti ji, Vishanu Nadhan ji, Niraj Dange ji, and Qazi Nizamuddin ji. The Congress party leaders discussed various schemes related to Anganwadi, Asha, and mid-day meal workers during the event.

Anganwadi, Asha and mid-day meal workers are the backbone of our society. They work tirelessly to ensure that our children, pregnant women and lactating mothers receive proper nutrition, healthcare and education. The Congress party’s announcement to increase their honorarium and monthly pay, as well as provide retirement or premature death benefits, is a step in the right direction.

Anganwadi workers provide pre-school education, nutrition and healthcare services to children under the age of six. They also provide supplementary nutrition to pregnant women and lactating mothers. Asha workers are community health workers who provide basic healthcare services to their communities. Mid-day meal workers ensure that children in government schools receive nutritious meals.

Despite their invaluable contributions, these workers are often underpaid and overworked. The Congress party’s announcement to increase their pay and provide retirement or premature death benefits will go a long way in ensuring their well-being and motivating them to continue their important work.

The announcement of the Congress party to increase the honorarium of Anganwadi workers from ₹11,500 to ₹15,000 per month, and the honorarium of mini Anganwadi workers from ₹7,500 to ₹10,000 per month, will provide much-needed relief to these workers who often struggle to make ends meet. The increase in monthly pay of Asha workers from ₹5,000 to ₹8,000, and Mid Day Meal workers from ₹3,700 to ₹5,000, will also help to improve the quality of life for these workers.

Moreover, the provision of retirement or premature death benefits for Anganwadi workers of ₹3,00,000 and for mini Anganwadi workers of ₹2,00,000, will give these workers a sense of security and help them to plan for their future. This is especially important given the physically demanding nature of their work and the lack of social protection that they often face.

It is commendable that the Congress party is taking steps to address the issues faced by Anganwadi, Asha and mid-day meal workers. The increase in their honorarium and monthly pay, as well as the provision of retirement or premature death benefits, will help to improve their lives and motivate them to continue their important work. It is important that we recognize the contributions of these workers and ensure that they are treated fairly and with respect. The Congress party’s announcement to increase the honorarium and monthly pay of Anganwadi, Asha and mid-day meal workers, and provide retirement or premature death benefits, is a positive step towards improving the lives of these workers. It is important that we continue to support and value their contributions to our society.
